Many instrumental students find their weekly group lessons and playing in the school band not satisfying to fulfill their appetite for music making. For some students there is a desire to learn a secondary instrument or prepare for an upcoming NYSSMA solo festival. Whatever the case may be the Piano Lab is here to offer just what those students are looking for.
In private lesson instruction at the Piano Lab students are able to work one on one with a qualified teacher who is both a professional free-lance musician and New York State certified music educator.

In private lessons, Mike is able to work more in depth with a student on their instrument. Lessons focus on developing a more professional tone on the instrument, fundamentals of playing the instrument correctly with better technique, and setting goals that will assist students excel on their instrument.
Of course, the student must do their part and practice the lessons and assignments that the private teacher gives to the student. Over the years, we know that when a student studies privately, they will improve as a musician. We have never witnessed a student become a worse musician when studying privately.
